Scouting
The Del Mar – Solana Beach Optimist Club has a long, rich, history of involvement with Scouting in our community. Beginning in 1983 Tom Emery, San Diego – Imperial Counties Scouting Council Commissioner, joined our Club. Prior to his role as Council Commissioner, Tom was a Scout Master in the Poway area, and was responsible for helping several dozen boys become Eagle Scouts.
Over the years, Tom recruited new Optimist Club Members who, with their boys became involved with Scouting: Tom, Carolyn Grimm, and Jim Ferrara served on the Eagle Scout Board of Review for years. Jim became CALSO Governor 1992-93 year, and Paul Mills served as Jim’s Secretary Treasurer. Steve Wagner participated at both pack and troop level, Carolyn, Steve, and Paul Mills boys became Eagle Scouts
Our Optimist Club remains involved with Scouting in the Del Mar – Solana Beach area with Corwin Nycholat as our Club – Scouting liaison. For Pack information, please visit Pack 734.
